Description: This workshop presents the specifics of a Film Budget and how to manage, estimate & report the actual costs. The presentation standardly used is extensively studied with many practical examples and real "in the trenches" examples.
New to this workshop is an examination of the 6 different control systems that every producer, line producer, UPM, etc needs to know in order to manage the costs as they occur. The presentation of costs is vital, as you will see how errors or non-standard reporting affects such higher powers as the bond company, lenders, studio exec's, etc.
Objective: Participants will identify the specific ways to manage film budgets and present the costs in such a way as to be able to defend, challenge and manipulate the universally standard cost report without being tongue-tied.
Major Topics:
Film Budgets - a $9Mil budget reviewed by category and specific non-labor and labor examples examined
Universally Standard Cost Report - the elements of the cost report are examined with real examples practiced until attendees are very familiar with how to manipulate and present the costs to financiers, bond companies, etc
Six Basic Control Systems - the six basic ways of controlling the production costs are gone over in detail, practicing ways to control those cost and how they affect the cost report and impact on the film budget

INSTRUCTOR:John Gaskinhas worked in the film production business since 1985, primarily as a Film Production Auditor. John has worked on 45 different productions in 5 different countries, working with greats such as Ron Howard, Frank Oz and
Walter Salles - as well as small independent films and TV episodic productions, pilots and mini-series. During his career many of his assistants have gone on to become Key Accountants (another term for the Production Auditor).
John also has Supervising Producer credits

his control has exceeded a Billion Dollars.
